T4 Løypemaskin · drawing set NS-T4 · revision 7

The specification is a drawing

There is no table of figures on this page that is not hanging off the part it describes. Four views, front to back, in the order the machine is built.

What one pass actually leaves behind

The tiller cuts, the teeth throw, the mat closes. Everything a skier feels the next morning is decided in the 900 mm between the back of the tracks and the trailing edge of the mat.

Track unit, left side. Two bolts release a bogie; a road wheel is a trail job and the spare lives in the cab.

Cab section looking left. The driver sits forward of the front idler so the blade edge is visible without leaning.

Tiller end with the classic setter down. Teeth are changed from above with the hood up, eleven minutes a set.

Before and after · the same 300 m of trail

Forty minutes apart

The left half is the trail at 21:50, one pass of the T4 later. The right half is the same stretch at 21:10, six hours after a 180 mm fall. Same tripod position, same lens. Hover and the groomed half takes the whole frame.

Before: untouched deep snow across an open trailAfter: the same trail cut into even corduroy ridges

Where the T4 stops being enough

Grooming speed falls away quickly past 20°. At 32° the belts begin to slip on anything softer than a settled base, and that is the number we quote, not a brochure figure measured on hardpack in April.

If your steepest sustained climb is above 28°, buy the winch. If it is above 45°, buy a different machine from somebody else, and we will tell you who on the telephone.
